Which?

Edward S. Sorenson

(Read first and third line, and second and fourth alternately.)

‘Twould free me from this care and pain
    To lead a wedded life with thee;
To never see thy face again
    Would be the deepest misery.

My life will be a dreary, course
    Without thee, maiden, for my wife;
If thou art mine for good or worse,
    I then might lead a happy life.

I vow, if thou wilt not refuse,
    T’ indulge thy whims, and wait on thee;
T’insult, maltreat thee, and abuse,
    Would go against the grain with me.

Enough; my fondest wish is this:
    With the Life’s joys and ills to share;
To live apart for ever, miss,
    Would be a lot I could not bear.

Edward S. Sorenson, Casino
